Good voices - This is fun and has a good range of topics but i would say that its strongest point is the voices. they are very clear, a good model to follow. you need a good course to go with it and explain the language. i got manuela cooks. if you want to know about the country and the peoples history, other books i have bought and would recommend are portugal a companion history by jose hermano saraiva, lisbon a cultural and literary companion by paul buck and portugal a travellers history by harold livermore. they all go very well together. all good stuff.
Good practice and fun - Good practice and funI read the advice given in a review written by a user of the Talk Now Brazilian Portuguese, which also mentions the European Portuguese version, and decided to follow it, that is I bought Manuela Cook s books together with the Talk Now Portuguese. I am quite happy with the results. Talk Now is a lot of fun and good practice but it does not teach you the language, it is more like a complement to a course for extra practice. Without MC s books I would have been rather lost but the Talk Now goes well with them. Very enjoyable! I am very happy to recommend it (but for practice, not to actually learn the language)!
